Liverpool Parks Tournament Review

22/7/2019

Picture
The Liverpool Parks Tournament at Mersey Bowmen Tennis Club finished with a great finals as players from 12 different clubs battled it out urged on by a vocal crowd.

Star of the day was 13 year old Alex Fook Knowles from Palmerston who lifted 4 titles as well as the tournament sportsmanship award. The mens singles title went to Mark Hunter from Cheshire Oaks who overcame Mersey Bowmen's Phillip Smith in a hard 2 hour tussle. Jane Coffey from David Lloyd Knowsley took the Women's event over Palmerston's Jessica Ayowale - at 13 the youngest ever finalist.

There were 2 all Palmerston encounters in the 12 and under events as Joe Holt beat Felix Thomas and Evie Hoare beat Lottie Cowdell.

After 5 past losses in Parks finals Palmerston coach Dave Simms finally prevailed in the veterans doubles with Mersey Bowmen coach Richie Forde.

Over 100 competitors took part with a huge thanks to Mersey Bowmen Club for the  hosting and catering and to Mike McBrien and Jamie Semple for the organising.
The event will be back in 2020!
